Bangladesh Prime Minister’s cash assistance will be available in MFS – Tech Observer

Dhaka – The country’s four mobile financial services (MFS) will be integrated with the government’s application programming interface (API) to ensure greater transparency in the provision of cash assistance announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina . Through which cash assistance will be sent directly to destitute and poor families.

The four mobile banking institutions are Bikash from BRAC Bank, Bangladesh Postal Service Nagad, Rocket from Dutch Bangla Bank and SureCash from Rupali Bank. This information is known from a source at the Ministry of Finance.

On July 13, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced a new Tk 3,200 crore incentive program to help low-income people affected by the ongoing ban on coronavirus infection.

Of this amount, Tk 450 crore was pledged for financial assistance at the rate of two thousand five hundred taka per person for day laborers, transport workers, small traders and shipping workers. We learn that this money will be given as a gift for Eid-ul-Adha to 3 million poor families across the country.

The government-announced incentive program also includes Tk 150 crore for conducting special WHO activities in 813 centers from July 25 to August 7 to help low-income people in urban areas.

Special allowance of Tk 100 crore to assist deputy commissioners for the provision of food assistance in response to public demand on national helpline 333 To provide assistance in the form of a loan (at an interest rate of 4 %) through the Rural Employment Bank and PKSF for the financing of employment creation activities in rural areas, an additional allocation of Tk 3,200 crore has been made.

One thousand crore rupees has been allocated to provide 4% interest working capital loan assistance through banks for the payment of salaries and allowances to employees of hotels, motels and theme parks in the tourism sector .

Previously, the government provided financial assistance to 31 lakh poor families affected by the second wave of the Corona epidemic. Before Eid-ul-Fitr, each family received cash assistance of Tk 2,500 through mobile financial services.

On the other hand, in 2020, the Prime Minister also provided cash assistance of Tk 2,500 crore to 5 million poor families and vulnerable people across the country.
