Ifugao cops extend cash assistance to Banaue flash flood victims

LAGAWE, Ifugao – In addition to organizing a brigade from their ranks to clean up the thick mud carried by the floods in the town of Banaue, the personnel of the Ifugao Provincial Police Bureau have also united to bring a cash assistance to victims of flash floods and landslides.

As part of the ongoing ‘Oplan Binnadang’, Col. James Mangili, Provincial Director, personally delivered the cash donation of 197,700.77 pesos to the Mayor of Banaue, Joel Bungalon on July 18.

Binnadang is a Kankana-ey term for cooperation or ‘bayanihan’ in Tagalog, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, working and cooperating to achieve a particular goal.

According to IPPO Information Officer Lt. Lorna Butac, police have agreed to help assist victims whose homes were damaged in landslides caused by flash floods that began on July 7 and continue to occur whenever heavy rains fall.

Apart from the cash aid, Mangili also donated 21 pairs of rain boots to the municipal government for use by employees who continue to carry out clean-up operations.

Butac said Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) Ifugao Chapter also donated 31 bags of assorted vegetables to their member in Tinoc town and collected monetary donation in the amount of P10,750 as contribution for the ‘Oplan Sagip Kapamilya,’ a fundraiser led by the Youth Mobile Force Cordillera in partnership with the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-15, Sangguniang Kabataan Ifugao and KKDAT Ifugao Chapter, for the victims of the tragedy.
