Payment of mid-year cash assistance for people with disabilities and the elderly in Lapu begins on June 16

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—Good news for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) of Lapu-Lapu City.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan announced that starting Thursday, June 16, 2022, the city government will begin disbursing its mid-year cash assistance.

Chan said the elderly will receive 4,000 pesos while the disabled will receive 3,000 pesos each.

The distribution will first start on Olango Island on June 16, while June 17 and 18 would be the distribution schedule on the Lapu-Lapu mainland.

Chan, however, said seniors must personally claim their financial assistance.

“Bawal and authorization. Siya gyud mismo ang mokuha,” Chan said.

(Letters of authorization are prohibited. The recipient must personally receive the aid.)

The cast is in keeping with the city’s celebration of its 61st anniversary of Charter Day.

City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) chief Junard Abalos said the distribution will take place at barangay gymnasiums or public schools.

Abalos said the city had about 31,737 elderly people and 6,718 people with disabilities.

For bedridden recipients, Abalos said their loved ones should notify the city so they can schedule a visit and deliver payment to their home. The same policy will also apply to people with disabilities.

Chan also pointed out that beneficiaries whose death occurred on or before April 29, next of kin cannot receive their relatives’ mid-year bonus. As for those who died on or after April 30, next of kin can still claim the mid-year bonus.

If the spouse will be claiming on behalf of the partner, he or she must present proof of relationship such as a marriage certificate and death certificate.

If the beneficiaries’ children claim, the birth and death certificates of their relatives can be presented.

In addition to this, the city will also distribute a 1,000P birthday gift to senior citizens. who celebrated their birthdays in April and May.
