Philippine Red Cross provides cash assistance to 1,400 families

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) visited Sultan Dumalongdong Municipality, Lanao del Sur, and made a Multi-Purpose Grant (MPCG) distribution to 1,400 families on November 17.

The PRC has partnered with the Spanish Red Cross and the German Red Cross for the activity funded by the European Union. The event was organized to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and promote the public health system and socio-economic development of the Autonomous Religion of Bangsamoro in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The MPCG event brought together EU Ambassador Luc Veron, Section Administrator Sittie Adiong, Head of Cooperation Section Christoph Wagner, delegates from the Spanish and German Red Cross, executives from the RPC, as well as the staff and volunteers of RPC Lanao del Sur.

The Peace and Development in the BARMM project in Lanao del Sur provides 3,500 MPCG each to 1,400 families, 10,000 pesos of livelihood assistance to 800 families, vocational training for youth employability to 100 people, a community savings group to 10 groups, community livelihood management project to five associations, and recruitment and equipment of volunteers for 800 people.

“The objective of the Philippine Red Cross is to reach remote areas to help the most vulnerable. In partnership with our national partner companies and the European Union, we will give hope to our Muslim brothers in Sultan Dumalongdong, ”said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Senator Richard Gordon.

The Philippine Red Cross is committed to contributing to a peaceful, cohesive, safe and inclusive developed Mindanao.
